4th Malaysian National Squib Championship 2025

The Peninsular Sailing Club Selangor (PSCS) proudly hosted the thrilling 4th Malaysian National Squib Championship, concluding on Sunday, 15th June 2025. The regatta featured 9 entrants (8 competing) from PSCS’s fleet of 18 Squibs, who raced over 7 exciting contests in challenging conditions.

The championship was marked by fierce competition, particularly between the RSYC team of Tom and Shafiq on Quicksilver and PSC Commodore Jeremy Camps with crew David Fitzpatrick on Cabaret 7. Going into the final race, Cabaret 7 needed a win to secure the title. In a dramatic start, Quicksilver used match racing tactics to push Cabaret 7 over the line, but Cabaret 7 made a brilliant comeback, finding a mid-river flyer and rounding the windward mark with a commanding 50-meter lead. They held on through the longest course—two sausages and two triangles—to clinch victory.

The final results were:

  • 🥇 Cabaret 7 – Jeremy Camps / David Fitzpatrick
  • 🥈 Quicksilver – Tom / Shafiq
  • 🥉 Lady VG – RSYC Commodore Rama Menon / Justin (23 pts)
  • 4️⃣ Second Wind – Charles / Martin (25 pts)
  • 5️⃣ Alice – Rainer / Mike (26 pts)
  • 6️⃣ Emily – Evan / Wolfram (32 pts)
  • 7️⃣ Buck Up – Malaysian Seascouts Sean / Wan (32 pts)
  • 8️⃣ Jerry – Thomas / Richard (35 pts)

The championship concluded with a fantastic celebration at the Club Cafeteria, where members enjoyed delicious food prepared by PSC’s own Chef and member Peter Hindle. Congratulations to all participants for an exciting and memorable regatta!
